Hearty Bean Texas Chili
You will need:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
6 cups water
3 cans (15 oz. each) Tomato Sauce
Presoak beans: Empty beans into a sauce pan, leaving the seasoning/corn meal mix in the jar. Add enough water to cover the beans completely.
Soak overnight in the refrigerator. Drain and rinse. Empty
presoaked beans into a large sauce pan and add 6 cups of water.
Boil slowly for approximately one hour (or until beans are soft).
Green splits may appear overcooked. Brown ground beef
and set aside. Once beans are tender, drain water and add
ground beef to the pot. Stir in the cans of tomato sauce and
the seasoning/corn meal mix from the jar. Simmer for 20
minutes before serving, stirring occasionally. Garnish with
shredded Cheddar cheese. Season to taste.
